At the time of her wedding in 2005, Suruchi found herself weighing 48 kg. Marriage and two pregnancies later, things changed and her weight shot up to 75 kg by 2012, about 10 kilos more than what she would have preferred. The responsibilities of marriage and motherhood had started to take a toll on her health.

Over the next four years, her outlook towards life changed and several attempts were made to lose weight. This 34-year-old mother-of-two first enrolled in a gym. When that did not go to plan, Suruchi decided to give aerobics a try. Her class even provided a diet plan which she was unable to follow due to a lack of awareness about the importance of nutrition in weight loss. This apparent inability to lose weight left her disappointed and disheartened.

“I soon replaced my unhealthy food habits with a balanced diet”

In August 2017, Suruchi stumbled upon HealthifyMe on Facebook and soon enough, she downloaded the app. This was only the beginning of her weight loss journey. “I started logging my food and water intake on the app, and I immediately knew that my diet needed change. I decided to get in touch with a HealthifyMe coach to see what I had to do differently,” Suruchi tells us. In no time, she was a premium user.

Her diet coach helped her understand why it was necessary to pay attention to nutrition. “My diet coach, Neha Agarwal, explained the importance of eating healthy to me. I soon replaced my unhealthy food habits with a balanced diet,” Suruchi recalls, “I started off by changing the little things. The oil in my food was replaced by rice bran or olive oil, oats and muesli replaced the parathas in my meals, and I started controlling my sugar intake too.”

“Now, I have a workout routine that feels like second nature to me”

Exercise too was not a part of Suruchi’s daily routine until recently. “Though I used to workout occasionally, it was never good enough. Now, under the guidance of my fitness coach Shikha Thapa, I have a workout routine that feels like second nature to me,” she beams.

Four months into her fitness journey, Suruchi finds herself weighing 62 kg. Having lost 3 kg more than she initially aimed to, she is both delighted and proud. “I couldn’t be happier. However, this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my coaches, Neha and Shikha. I would like to thank them for guiding and motivating me throughout my journey,” she says.

“Start by changing the little things, and the results will start showing eventually”

When asked if she had a message for those looking to undergo a similar weight loss transformation, Suruchi said, “If I could do it, anyone can. There’s no need to completely change the way you live your life in order to lose weight. Start by changing the little things, and the results will start showing eventually.”

What are GLP-1 peptides?

They are small sequences of amino acids that are secreted from cells in the small intestine and the brain. They work as physiological regulators of appetite and food intake – basically they transmit the message that the stomach is full to the brain.
